Hanukah Crafts

This year Hanukah comes at the end of November. What is Hanukah without a Menorah and a Dreidel. Here are some ideas for some fun crafts while you talk about what Hanukah is all about. Weather or not you are Jewish or not, it is nice to explain other religious holidays. My mother always told me if you want others to respect your religious beliefs, you need to start by respecting theirs. So lets get crafty.

I like this one as it is made of left over scraps. You can use paper, clothes strips or even ribbon. It is really a nice use of our leftovers from previous crafts.

This one is an other crafty use of paper plates.

Macaroni Menorah. I know many parents that proudly wear their macaroni necklaces that their kids have made for them. Note the flame is twisted red paper, you can use some from a magazine or use red tissue paper.

Here are some Dreidel ideas. The first one is a Dreidel card idea. It can be used as decorations too.

Here are some cute decoration ideas.

I love tissue paper. just remember that you need make sure the paper does not go past the rim. You can use double back tap to secure it. It is a nice way to show off some bright colors.

I tried using pipe cleaners and and.... well they did not stay in the shape I wanted. I have seen people whip things like this out with pipe cleaners so I know that it works. I just need more practice.

Now remember what I have said about any craft, it is all about having fun and being creative. Those little imperfections that happen just gives your craft a personal touch. So have fun and be adventurous.

Happy Hanukah.

Thanksgiving songs

Well those CD's that I bought in that yard sale had some great Thanksgiving songs for kids. I do not know were these came from but I can't take credit for them.

The Turkey

The turkey is a funny bird.
Its head goes wobble, wobble.
And all it knows is just one word:
"Gobble, gobble, gobble."

Albuquerque is a Turkey
to the tune of "Clementine"

Albuquerque is a turkey,
And he's feathered and he's fine,
And he wobbles and he gobbles,
And he's absolutely mine.

He's the best pet that you can get,
Better than a dog or cat.
He's my Albuquerque turkey,
And I'm very proud of that.

He once told me, very frankly,
He preferred to be my pet--
Not the main course at my dinner,
And I told him not to fret.

Now my Albuquerque turkey
Is so happy in his bed,
'Cause for our Thanksgiving dinner,
We had egg foo yong instead.

We are Thankful
to the tune of "Are You Sleeping?"

We are thankful, we are thankful,
For our food, for our food.
And our many blessings,
And our many blessings,
Thank you Lord. Thank you Lord.

Five Fat Turkeys

Five fat turkeys short and plump.
The first one hid way high upon a stump.
The second one said, "We should run, run, run."
The third one said, "or we'll be done."
The fourth one said, "I don't want to be dinner."
The fifth one said I wish I were thinner!"

I'm A Little Turkey
(sung"I'm A Little Teapot)

I'm a little turkey on a farm.
Here are my feathers, here is my beak.
When Thanksgiving comes I get real freaked,
Please don't eat me for your treat!

Thanksgiving (tune - Where is Thumpkin)

Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving
Here it comes, here it comes.
Turkey on the table, turkey on the table.
MMM good, MMMM good.

Cornbread muffins, chestnut stuffing,
Pumpkin pie, ten feet high.
We were so much thinner, before we came to dinner.
Me oh my, me oh my!

Thanksgiving fun snacks idea

I have to admit that I dislike to cook. I get cranky when I cook and I can be a little on the overbearing side. Just ask my family and puppies.

I did find these and I thought that they looked cute and easy to make. Easy even for me to whip up while cooking Thanksgiving dinner for my family.

So Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy.
